BioA dozen women in opulent ball gowns and tiaras sipped cosmopolitians comfortably in a cozy kitchen, Each wore a sash announcing her province: Chutzpah, Wisdom, Crazy Love, Snakebit, and so on. A black kitten dawdled around their feet and lapped up spilt liquor.
Several women had placed their wands on the large, blue and white Morrocan tiled table and kicked off their heels. Their workday was over. They sloshed drinks across the table and traded stories about and the humans they'd encountered and helped, or not.
A butterfly wafted in through the window, sniffing dried flower bunches. The butterfly landed on the dried flowers and found nothing to eat, but thought it smelled something nice by the table.
The young black cat spotted the butterfly. He wanted to catch the butterfly. The kitten sprang onto the countertop. His tail twitched. The butterfly landed on the tiled table. With a mighty leap, the kitten nabbed the butterfly in his mouth but slid across the wet tiles into the pile of wands. They crashed with a loud BANG, a flash of light, and a cough of smoke.
The women righted the furniture and wiped the drinks from their faces. As the smoke cleared, they saw a figure standing by the table. A large naked black man stood up. A butterfly stuck out of his mouth. He looked about the room and a gigantic shit-eating grin spread across his face. The man yelled "BUTKUS!", and leapt out of the nearest window. He ran away, laughing like a lunatic.
After the household fell asleep, drunken and snoring, the butterfly transformed herself into a shapely woman in a ball gown with a tiara, and a sable black sash. She laughed, a little to herself, then loudly, uncontrollably, until dark tears flew from her jet-black eyes.
